	Wednesday 11 October 2006 Celebration of Excellence Lunch Learners who have been in the top ten of their grades during the year attended the lunch. The Grade 10 Hospitality learners. did the catering.
	Cricketing Success Luke Rosslee took 5 wickets for 6 runs in a game against Christchurch.
	New Staff at the beginning of Term 4 Taryn Kagan joined the Science Department during Mrs James's is accouchement leave. Marius Barnard joined us to teach Computer Studies and Information Technology Mr Harris has been appointed as Head of IT.
	September 2006 Matrics Donate to Door of Hope The Matrics gave the R5000 which they raised from the Valentine Dance, to the Door of Hope. This is an organisation that cares for abandoned babies.
	22nd September 2006 Colours Assembly Four white blazers for Tres Honores Awards were presented to Matthew Glitz, Michael Cockerill, Marko Bucarriza and Philene Blom. The Tres Honores is Hyde Park's most prestigious award. It is given to a learner who has three full colours; the award is given cum laude if those colours are in different aspects of school life and maximum cum laude if the full colours are in academics, cultural and sporting activities

	15th September 2006 Dasantha Pillay wins 2nd place at the Plastics Competition Dasantha won prizes for herself as well as a number of prizes for the school at the prize-giving she and Mrs Reddy attended in Durban. In this photo she and other regional winners join in a Coastal Clean Up.

	15 June 2006 Colours Assembly A highlight of this assembly was the Tres Honores award made to Nicky Moss as a result of her three Full Colours in Swimming, Waterpolo and Netball.
	10 June 2006 District Netball Finalists The under 16 netball team went through to the finals of District 9 where they lost to the team from Helpmekaar.
	2 June 2006 Winter Sports Day This day is a day of sport and fun for HPHS families. It marks the end of the winter season sports with Inter-house games and staff and Old Hydes vs pupil matches.
	18 May 2006 ID Day The theme of this year's ID day, "Heroes and Cartoon Characters" resulted in some inspired costumes. Money collected from the pupils on the day goes to one of the charities the school supports.
	9 May 2006 Careers Evening This is an annual event where representatives of numerous tertiary institutions put up displays and speak to our Grade 9, Grade 11 and Matric group.

	April Holdiays 2006 The Easter Festival in KZN A netball, hockey and rugby tournament inPietermaritzburg. The sport was successful and much fun was had on the beach afterwards.

	27 February 2006 Inter-High Gala Hyde Park finished in second position with a record number of swimmers being selected to go on to the Prestige Gala. Our cheerleaders, some of whom are pictures here, put on a superb display.

	15 February Science Demonstration Some of the grade 8 and 9 learners were photographed with Barry Myers from Wits University. His demonstration was of controlled explosions, electrical explosions, electrotatics and lightning, electro magnetism, electromagnetic induction and the transformer.

	17 September 2005 Ling Ting wins national essay writing competition At a prize giving held on Robben Island, Ling won a bursary to a tertiary institution of her choice. She won prizes for herself as well as for the school. Read her essay.

	7 September Inter-high Athletics Our team was proud to finish second, tieing with Queens. Queens, a school of 1500 pupils has beaten us twice earlier this season!

	29 August 2005 Tina Tells The National Educational Theatre presented the play about child abuse to the grade 8 and 9 learners. A magristrate spoke to them about the legal procedures.
